Me
I obtained a B.A. at Illinois State University in Earth, Space, and Geography education and a B.S. from the University of Colorado-Boulder in Geology. I have experience teaching middle and high school in Illinois, New Orleans, and am coming to NHS from Stem Launch. By incorporating various learning styles into the classroom, I strive to fully engage and cater to the diverse learning styles of all of my students. I have had the opportunity to educate a full range of learners from many diverse regions and look forward to continuing to do so in my career.
In 2011 I attended the Texas Space Consortium at Johnson Space Center in Houston and was part of a group of 50 educators who helped create the Next Generation Science Standards for the Earth and Space curriculum. I moved to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado Boulder in order to further increase my content knowledge. While there I conducted some groundbreaking research within the Astrobiology department in search of life on Mars sub-surface. I also interned with NASA through CU-Boulder designing, running, and maintaining a rover that will land on the surface of the moon in 2020. My background in Astrogeology and Geographic Information System (GIS) has given me many new experiences; experiences that I hope to transcend into my students. My hope for the upcoming school year is to show others how to be successful through strong leadership, mentoring, and self-paced guidance.
